Sidenote:
In lieu of wedding favors, Matt and Sarah made a donation to Comfort Zone Camp.
“For us, it was a combination of going green and adding a more personal touch to our guests’ experience. Rather than spending unecessary money, we chose to bring attention to an organization that is dear to our hearts. Especially because as volunteers we met there, we wanted our friends to be able to learn more about the Comfort Zone Camp”.

Although growing up in completely different cities, Boston, MA and Richmond, VA, Sarah Knupp and Matt Paxton met, dated, and decided to get married all in the space of about six months.  “We met as volunteers at a bereavement camp for kids who have lost a parent or sibling. Meeting one another in such an intensely emotional setting helped us immediately realize we shared many of the same values” said Sarah.

Both Sarah and Matt had vacationed on the Outer Banks separately with their families for many years and upon discovering that in common, it was clear it was the natural place for them to exchange wedding vows.

The Bride and Groom have two pieces of advice:
Sarah: “Seriously consider a wedding planner. When we first started our planning process, I wasn’t sure that we needed one. But for out-of-town brides, I would strongly advise it. It can be done affordably and having help was a lifesaver.

Matt: “Don’t worry about the weather, you can’t control it. We were prepared for both good and bad, and fortunately so. The rain and wind forced us to move our ceremony under the tent we had planned on only for the reception. In the end it made the wedding more intimate and cozy. The weather will do what it wants to and in the end all you can do is be prepared and enjoy the day.”
